Robert D. Poston

Board Member

Bobby Poston earned his degree in Vocal Performance from Texas State University in 1993 and his Masters of Vocal Performance from Florida State University in 1995.  While working to pay his way through school Bobby participated in leadership positions in the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and Student Foundation and served as president of the Greek honor society, Order of Omega. His experience at Texas State created a firm and well-rounded foundation for Bobby to explore a diverse and somewhat, out of the ordinary, career path.

Shortly after college Bobby entered the energy industry at the dawn of its deregulation boom. Over the next decade he worked for leading companies such as Reliant, Dynegy and Duke Energy while learning from the ground up all operational and financial aspects of the energy business. In 2003 his heart led him back to music and he moved to New York City to pursue his original dream of being an opera singer. For the next four years Bobby achieved success as the lead tenor in many NYC productions of the classic Italian repertoire. Unfortunately, a health issue would cut his professional singing career short. After moving back to Houston in 2007 Bobby joined the industrial energy division of Sprague Energy as their New England sales executive.

As a board member of the Stelos Alliance, Bobby founded and supports the Tommy Raffen Memorial Scholarship. In memory of his fraternity brother and friend, Tommy Raffen, this annual scholarship award strives to lessen the financial burden for one deserving student who shares the qualities that made Tommy Raffen such a special student leader.

At his home in Pearland Bobby is an avid golfer and enjoys travelling with family and friends. In his spare time he mentors college graduates and works as a volunteer counselor for rehabilitation services of veterans and the homeless.
